Postcard – Boarding House Bath by Nan Wood Graham

Original artwork by Nan Wood Graham, sister of famous Iowa artist Grant Wood, who painted American Gothic.

The piece of paper on the wall by the toilet says “Do not throw mash in the toilet.”  The sign below says “Shut water off.” The sign by the lightswitch says, “Turn off light.” We assume the two men both wanted to take a bath but there was only one tub.
