Dear Friends,

As we end this most difficult year in recent American economic history, we send our fall greetings and wishes that everyone will have a wonderful Christmas season. We hope that 2009 will be a great year for all Americans and our friends overseas. We who live in Eastern Iowa, suffered tornadoes and devastating floods. Our friends and customers in Texas coped with the hurricane. We note that the historic courthouse in Galveston survived. Our copyright case from 2006, would have been there had we not settled. See our book, “Stewing in Texas” regarding one extraordinary Texas district court judge for both dramatic reading and hearty laughter.

We will begin our 30th year in 2009. We hope to keep our classic titles in print and add new ethnic and state ones in the coming years. Deb Schense has joined our company as a freelance editor. Her title, “Barns Around Iowa: A Sampling of Iowa’s Round Barns” with Luella Hazeltine, photographer, is proving to be a popular title.

“Barns Around Iowa” features approximatly 100 round and multi-sided barns from all over Iowa.

Sister M. John Vianney Vranak is singing our praises in a letter to Toni Brendel, author of Slovak American Touches,

released last spring ($18.95 retail). Here is a quote forwarded by Toni:

“..Your book is positively magnificent. I have never seen such a beautiful combination of heritage, culture, and treasured recipes all in one. …God reward and bless you for sharing your talents and your love of Slovak culture with the broader public. May you continue to share this gift as time goes on.”

With prayers and best wishes,
Sister M. John Vianney Vranek, SS.C.M.
